Variety 4 (Metcalf) “A” Towards Head above “T” towards Head
This variety has only three coins in the survey, coins ID 07, ID 11 and ID 20. All three coins are very similar and could even be all struck from the same die on both the obverse and reverse. On the obverse the crown has three pellets within the crown triangles, none outside.
All three coins have eight pellets in the crown line above the head. The “E” rune (looking like a capital M) has a central line from the point downwards. The Tufa above the standard has three pellets which are placed very low down. The four corner lines extending outwards at 45° from each corner of the standard are very short. These coins have been allocated the designation Timms R1/44. See diagram below.
