Variety 2 (Metcalf) “A” Towards Head, Annulet above Runes
Metcalf Variety 2 has the barred A behind the head but also has an Annulet above the runes that are in front of the head. All other aspects of the iconography are similar to variety 1. There are three coins of this variety in the survey, ID 02, ID 10 and ID 39.
Two of the coins in this variety have strikes that are offset to the left, thus not allowing full sight of the crown. However it is usual to see three pellets above the crown in between the points. ID 02 has very faint pellets above the crown. All Three of these coins are classified as Timms R1/20. See diagram below.
